In this instructable I will show you how to make a battery stand for a lithium 18650 battery so that you can use an unprotected battery in your DIY project without worrying about over-discharge,What we need:-18650 Holder (
Edit: these are cheaper. Thanks Elac. -
Battery Protection Board 18650 (
It\'s cheaper to buy 5 sets)-
Welding equipment-
If you can find a cheaper alternative for the stand and Protection Board, please let me know in the comments.
For these items, the cost per protected holder is 0. 97$.
Edit: battery stand suggested by Elac.
Only $0,83.
Start by removing the negative side of the battery stand.
To do this, bend the retention bracket to the center.
From experience, the easiest way to bend them is to use a small platform
Blade screwdriver.
Then you should be able to pull out the springs and wires.
The wire is attached to the spring with a metal post you just pulled out of the battery stand.
Separate the wires, metal columns, and springs.
We don\'t need pillars, but we need to keep black lines and springs.
Now push the red line through the hole to the inside of the battery stand.
The red line will be the wire from the battery to the protection circuit.
Measure the length of the battery stand and wire cut the red to the length of the negative pole of the battery stand.
Peel off the positive end of the inside of the battery stand.
Please make sure not to remove too much insulation.
Just enough to connect the wire to the B pad of the protection circuit. Take a wire (
It\'s better to be black because it will be negative).
The one that was previously attached to the battery stand is perfect for this.
Cut the wire into two pieces.
A short one arriving from B-
Protect the pad on the other side of the circuit.
This wire connects the spring to B-pad.
The rest of the wire will be used for P-
As your negative output.
So don\'t be too short.
We also need a red line.
The rest of the wire cut before may not be long enough, but if you think it is long enough, it can satisfy your use.
Now it\'s time to put everything on the Protection Board.
From soldering the long black line to P-
Pad, B-the short one.
Red line of PAD and P pad.
After completion, weld the red color on the battery holder to the B pad.
We\'re almost over.
Just weld the spring to a short black wire.
Make sure you weld it correctly as it will make life easier later.
Now stick the spring to the lower side of the protection circuit.
Before putting everything into the battery stand, make sure everything is welded in the right way and make sure there is no short circuit.
Finally put the red and black wires of P and P
The terminal puts the protection circuit into the battery seat through the hole of the battery seat.
You may not want to stick the protection circuit to the battery stand, but in my experience I can tell you that it is not necessary.
Just plug in the battery once and it should stay where it is.
Now your project has a protected 18650 battery stand, so you don\'t have to worry about an unprotected 18650 battery.
