GSL ENERGY Deploys 240kWh Energy Storage System in Caribbean Metro Station to Ensure Public Transport Energy Security

GSL ENERGY has successfully deployed a 240kWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system in a metro station in a major Caribbean city, providing continuous and stable power for lighting, air conditioning, and key control equipment in the station. This significantly enhances the emergency energy capacity and operational reliability of the local public transport system.

The power infrastructure in the Caribbean is relatively weak and often affected by natural disasters (e.g., hurricanes, heavy rainfall), resulting in frequent power interruptions. Metros, as one of the lifeblood of the city, have high demands on the stability of the power supply for their lighting, ventilation, and monitoring systems. To address these challenges, GSL ENERGY has worked with local partners to create a localised energy storage solution to enhance the energy autonomy of metro stations under extreme conditions.

The total energy storage capacity of this project is a 240kWh high-pressure lithium iron phosphate energy storage system.
System features: Modular design, easy maintenance and expansion, UPS-level uninterruptible switching to ensure that the critical loads are switched over to the power supply in 0 seconds; and support for remote monitoring and operation status management.
Application objects: Lighting system, air-conditioning system, communication network, control centre, etc.

To ensure the smooth delivery and efficient operation of the system, Mr Stone, Director of GSL ENERGY's Technical Department, went to the site to provide the whole process of technical support and commissioning services, including:
Analysis of the grid compatibility between the energy storage system and the original distribution system of the metro station
Installation and commissioning guidance, and on-site system testing
Training of local technicians in the use of the system and explanation of the maintenance
Customisation of the follow-up operation and maintenance support programme.

Since the system was put online, it has successfully taken over the power supply task when the municipal power grid fails many times, ensuring the critical power supply in the metro station.
